1. 16 Blocks (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Chalk up 16 Blocks as a flick with real potential that doesn’t go much of anywhere. The movie relies on cheesy gimmicks instead of true cleverness and never manages to turn into anything tense or memorable. Starring Bruce Willis, Mos Def. Warner, $28.98, 6/13/2006.

2. Be Kind Rewind (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I thought Be Kind Rewind looked like it’d be a hoot, but instead it turned out to be a bit of a bore. The flick starts off reasonably well but steadily declines to the point where I eagerly looked forward to its end ... Though the disc presents it well enough, the movie is a real disappointment. Starring Jack Black, Mos Def. New Line, $27.95, 6/17/2008.

3. The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fitfully funny and inventive, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy never quite lives up to its potential. It presents more than enough cleverness and humor to make it enjoyable, but it remains a moderate disappointment. Starring Martin Freeman, Mos Def. Buena Vista, $29.99, 9/13/2005.

5. The Italian Job: Special Collector's Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: At times The Italian Job feels a little more generic than I’d like, but it proves generally satisfying anyway. The movie tosses out enough intriguing elements to make it a light and lively adventure that doesn’t tread any new ground but comes across as entertaining nonetheless. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron. Paramount, $29.99, 10/7/2003.

7. The Woodsman (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A thoroughly absorbing character piece, The Woodsman casts Kevin Bacon as a man with a horrific past. Happily, it avoids basic condemnation or other simplistic viewpoints and paints a rich, involving examination of a haunted, flawed person. Starring Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick. Columbia TriStar, $26.96, 4/12/2005.

8. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby has many good moments, but it doesn’t soar consistently. An unlikable lead character and too many weak gags keep it from living up to its potential. The Blu-ray offers good picture and audio along with a mix of interesting extras. This is the best representation of the film out there. Starring Will Ferrell, Joh

9. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby (Unrated) (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should fans go for the theatrical edition of Nights or this extended cut? I’d recommend the latter. The longer version of the film is a little more amusing, and the DVD provides superior extras. Both are good releases, but this one’s just a little better. Starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly. Sony, $28.95, 12/12/2006.
